Through organizing public seminars on health, WCSA expects to increasing the awareness of health knowledge and improving the quality of life in Winnipeg Chinese community.

Tai Chi Club

Tai Chi exercise in every Sunday morning is the most attractive activity in WCSA. It started in early spring of 2018. Tai Chi not only is a way to exercise, but also provides opportunities for friendship.

Ping Pong Club

The ping pong club with the generous sponsorship of Mr. Xueyong Zhang and his immigration company, and the cooperation of Huatian Table Tennis Club, is officially started every Saturday.

Fitness Class

Every fitness class on Saturday and Thursday, through integrating music and dance, helps members to express their emotions and energy to achieve the their goal of happy fitness and healthy exercise.

The Double Ninth Festival @Manitoba Celebration

The Double Ninth Festival @Manitoba is a project in the 150th anniversary celebration of Manitoba. This is a celebration of Chinese traditional festival sponsored by the Manitoba 150 Celebration Committee and organized by the Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association. 2020 is the 150th anniversary of the founding of Manitoba. Our association has prepared a series of events to celebrate and bless the people living on this land, and to promote the cultural diversity in Manitoba and cultures carried on this land. Due to COVID pandemic, we postponed the celebration in 2021, and moved the live event to the Internet.
The Double Ninth Festival will be hosted on October 16, it includes two parts. The first part is fitness exercises from 8 am to 6 pm, including traditional Tai Chi and Baduanjin exercises suitable for the elderly. The second part is " The Double Ninth Festival @Manitoba" celebration from 7 to 10 in the evening, which brings the audience a wonderfully traditional Chinese festival experience.

Chinese New Year Celebration Event

We are super excited to announce that our Chinese New Year celebration event will be held on Friday night, Feb 12 from 7:00 - 9:00pm! Join us online as we welcome the Year of the Ox with cultural performances inspired by Lunar New Year traditions across China!
This virtual celebration is FREE and open to the public (with both Chinese and English speaking hosts), and all are welcome to participate. Lots of fantastic prizes to be won! Follow us for more updates. Email to register.

Keeping Seniors Healthy and Active throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic

Since the beginning of 2020, in order to adapt to the current situation of the pandemic and follow the government’s public health recommendations, WCSA transitioned to socially and physicially distanced or virtual activities. This has allowed WCSA members to maintain healthy vitality while participating in group activities to avoid social isolation. Since the first Covid-19 case was confirmed in Manitoba on March 12, 2020, WCSA immediately stopped all in-person group physical activities.

Learning Your Health Series -【What We Know about COVID-19 and Access Health Care in Winnipeg】

Another public seminar 【What We Know about COVID-19 and How to Access Medical Care in Winnipeg】was held on Saturday, July 4, 2020, from 19:00 to 21:00 with two merged Zoom rooms. This seminar was open to the public and had more than 130 participants. Dr. Zhang talked about 50 minutes, and answered more than 10 questions related to the topics. The presentation slides will be available to WCSA members.
A package of surprised gift was delivered free to all registered attendees. In addition, free disposable masks will be provided to the people who need with senior priority.

The First "TD Cup" Table Tennis Tournament ended with success at Winnipeg Table Tennis Training Centre on 26 October 2019. The sporting event was jointly initiated and hosted by Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association and Winnipeg Table Tennis Training Centre, and sponsored by TD Bank.

Congratulations to Ms. Yan Jiang on receiving 2019 Premier's Volunteer Service Award!

In recognition of Ms. Yan Jiang's volunteer work as the co-founder of the Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association (WCSA), and her passion for its mission to promote health topics and well-being to the community. With her help, WCSA developed a health series and various public seminars that addressed a range of health topics. These free seminars, given by medical specialists, quickly became a community highlight and attracted many residents. Ms. Jiang also leads a weekly Tai Chi club, a Ping Pong club, an Aerobics & Fitness class and a Drawing Class.

Ms. Yan Jiang and Dr. Songyan Liu from WCSA were the recipients of Winnipeg Community Service Awards issued by Mayor Brian Bowman in 2018 and 2019, recognized for their exceptional contributions to the community through voluntary service.
